Oil-based primers for galvanized iron (GI) are specialized coatings designed to promote adhesion and prevent corrosion on zinc-coated surfaces. While many standard oil-based primers are unsuitable for galvanized steel because they can react with the zinc to cause peeling (saponification), specific "zinc-rich" or specialized metal primers are engineered for these surfaces.
